The Government Museum of Bangalore comprises of two
exhibition floors, which have been further divided into eighteen
galleries. The museum also preserves antiques that date back to the
ancient civilization of Harappa and Mohenjodaro. Many relics dating back

The painting gallery includes beautiful and rare paintings in Mysore and
Tanjore style and also paintings from Rajasthani and Pahari schools.
This art gallery lies close to o the Museum. The
Venkatappa Art Gallery is named in honor of the popular artist
Venkatappa. In the Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bangalore the visitors can
view about 600 paintings by different renowned painters, open from 9am
to 6pm on all days of a week for public viewing. The collection of
sculptures and paintings is very rich.
These artifacts were unearthed while excavations were
being carried out at Chandravalli. The building being segregated into
various sections, such as art, sculpture, history, geology and
numismatics, the Government Museum is a place which will take you on a
